During the
last few
months two members of Longsdon Amateur Dramatic Society took taking leading roles in Fringe productions at the Edinburgh
Festival. They were Glen Naden, last year awarded Best Actor (NSDA)
and Ben Sillitoe awarded Best Newcomer, Staffs Moorlands Arts
Awards 2000 for the leading role in LADS production of Adrian
Mole.
Glen opened in The Rec Theatre Co Ltd production
"Don Juan" at the Buxton Fringe Festival.
This one man show, which last year gained a Fringe Drama Award,
traces Don Juan's exploits from virgin to libertine through a
litany of passionate encounters (lust feeding the quest for
love) and eventual violent confrontation with
his mother's murder.
Throughout August Glen will be
performed "Don Juan" at
the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in conjunction with a two-hander with
exciting twists and turns called "Haunted" which is a
tale of the unexpected. Ben
is currently reading maths at Nottingham University and is a
prominent member of the University Drama Group which has a
membership of over 400 performing at least 16 plays each
academic year. The
group are regular visitors to the Edinburgh Festival where they
promote their work under the title "Mouse on the
Stair". This year they will travelled north for
the month of August with four productions, one of which is
a new play by an up and coming writer, Peter Bridge, entitled
"Call of a Stranger". In this play Ben has been
cast in the leading role of Mac, a charismatic figure with the
power to manipulate, causing others to question their philosophy
and radically change their way of life. This
is a multilayered play, which is essentially a black comedy but
packed with food for thought. For
more information about Glen's work with REC Theatre and Ben's
"Mouse on the Stair" venture please visit their
respective websites. www.rectheatre.com

LADS
are extremely proud of them both and wish them well. |
